SHEBERGHAN (SW) – The Taliban insurgents have taken away six oil tankers along with 12 drivers and helpers from Jawzjan province, an official said on Saturday.
The provincial police chief, Abdul Wahid Wajdan, said the incident took place last evening in the Shah Mirzaey area of the Khanqa district. He added the rebels diverted these oil tankers from the main Balkh – Jawzjan highway, and sold the oil to residents of Aqcha and Khanqa districts.
According to well-places sources, the Taliban extort AFN 30,000 from each oil tanker on this main highway.
The Taliban have not commented on the latest incident.
