Taliban abduct family members of ALP men

 SAR-I-PUL (SW) – The Taliban insurgents have abducted family members of Afghan Local Police men in Sar-i-Pul province, an official confirmed on Tuesday.

Naqibullah Daqiq, governor of Sancharak district, said the Taliban abducted seven members of ALP family members in line with their new strategy here. He said the insurgents want to exert pressure on ALP men, and this move has forced many families to flee from the district.

He said the insurgents have erected check posts in the Archato, Khwaja Surkh and Pul Doab areas of the district.

Deputy Chairman for the provincial council, Syed Assadullah Danish, has confirmed these reports. He said persistence of this situation is alarming. He said a number of Sancharak district residents have fled their homes owing to an evident surge in cases of abduction here.

Provincial police chief, Khwaja Jailani Abubakar, said in this regard that the insurgents are engaged in all sorts of criminal activities in the district.

The Taliban spokesman, Qari Yosuf Ahmadi, has rejected these allegations.
