KABUL (SW) – The Taliban rebels have abducted 1 3 engineers and 20 workers of a private construction firm in Kandahar, officials confirmed on Friday.
Zia Durrani, spokesman for the police headquarters, informed Salam Watandar the rebels abducted these men from the Sro Sahano area in the Shorawak district. The firm is busy constructing the main highway between Spin Boldak and Shorawak districts.
The spokesman said units of police engaged in armed clashes with the Taliban in the area till 03:00 am killing scores of rebels. Mr. Durrani confirmed 4 policemen got killed in clashes.
The rebels have also torched a number of vehicles belonging to the construction firm. The Taliban have not commented on this incident.
