
CHARIKAR (SW) – The Taliban rebels have taken away nine passengers from the Bamyan – Parwan highway.
Alozay Ahmadi, coordination commander for the security forces in Parwan, informed Salam Watandar the passengers were taken away from the highway on Sunday evening from near the Siya Gard district. He said among the abductees include drivers and an engineer who are residents of Kabul and Maidan Wardak districts.
He said one of the abductees got free after clashes between the rebels and the security forces, however, the plight of the rest remains elusive. Commander Ahmadi said efforts to release the men through mediation by the local elders are underway.
A day earlier, the Taliban abducted 11 men from Kohmard district of Bamyan province. Hameedullah Khudai, police chief in the province, informed the rebels staged assaults on check posts in the Sargalay district from two directions at around 03:00 am in the morning. He said the Taliban were forced to flee after four hours of clashes. He said the Taliban have killed one of the captives.
