KUNDUZ CITY (SW): A 15-old girl was kidnapped from Kunduz City 40 days ago and the kidnappers took her with themselves to northern Takhar province where they got her engaged with a 20 year- old young man.
The National Directorate of Security’s (NDS) in Kunduz has arrested 8 people in connection to the incident after liberating the girl.
NDS has handed over the girl to her family. They young man with whom the girl was forcefully engaged too is under the custody of the NDS.
Local officials in Kunduz have not revealed the names of kidnappers or the victim to protect her privacy.
The victim, who is a student of the 12th grade told Salam Watandar that she was on her way to the tailor when her brothers’ in laws and another man kidnapped her.
First the kidnappers got her unconscious by giving her a piece of cake and then took her to Takhar.
She said that the family who paid to own her, tortured her and imprisoned her in a room, and a week later forcefully engaged her with their boy.
According to her, she had no idea what was going on as she was unconscious most of the time.
Her mother who had come to the NDS in Kunduz, while tears were rolling down her cheeks, thanked NDS’s personnel for paving the way to reunite the girl with her family.
She urged upon judicial institutions to punish the kidnappers in the most severe way possible.
The girl whose brother got engaged with the victim, said that she did not know the girl. Denying any wrong doing, she said they met in Talpqan City where the kidnapped girl told her that she had nowhere to go and willingly came along with her to their house.
Asadullah Omarkheyl, Governor of Kunduz, has said that the kidnappers are people who sexually exploit the kidnapped girls. He said that currently three kidnappers out of those who have been arrested are on the loose. He vowed to arrest them soon
