TAKHAR (SW): Taliban’s attack on the Takhar’s Dasht-e Qala led to the ‘falling of Dasht-e Qala into hands of Taliban’, today.
Sunatullah Taimur, spokesperson for the governor of Takhar said the district building and Dasht-e Qala police headquarter were captured by the Taliban. According to him, the Taliban set fire to Dasht-e Qala’s security management building.
Khalil Asir, spokesperson for the police headquarter in Takhar also confirmed the capture of the district’s building by the Taliban and said the fighting is currently taking place in the outskirt of the district.
According to Khalil Asir, as a result of the Taliban’s fighting with the security forces, 5 security forces have been killed and three have been wounded so far. Khalil Asir also informed Salam Watandar that 10 people’s uprising forces have been captured by Taliban while 8 Taliban militants have been killed by the security forces.
Dozens of families have been displaced so far settling into the neighboring districts. Though, previously the residents of Takhar had warned that if more troops were not deployed to the region, Dasht-e Qala would collapse into the hands of the Taliban.
