KABUL (SW): A number of civil society activists from Takhar province held a protest demonstration against their representatives in the parliament for not doing enough for the province.
Hafiz Akhgar, an organizer of the demonstration said on the occasion that students in the province are studying under the open sky, and many villagers do not have proper roads. He charged that Takhar’s representatives in the Wolesi Jirga (lower house) have misused the funds, and they do not care for the people in the province who voted for them.
Jamil Kawsar, another protestor said that increasing insecurity, joblessness and lack of roads are the main problems they are faced with. He too held the parliamentarians responsible. Kawsar said that the main road which connected 6 districts to the provincial capital Taluqan has not been repaired despite the fact that it was surveyed 15 year ago.
Meanwhile, Maryam Kofi, representative of Takhar in the WJ has rejected the allegations. Talking to Salam Watandar, she blamed the Ministry of Public Welfare and the Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation and Development for not paying attention towards the province.
