TALUQAN (SW) – Residents and members of the Takhar provincial council have complained about the snail-paced projects of the Citizens’ Charter Program here.
Azam Afzali, a member of the provincial council, said social workers associated with the CCP in the province have no experience of resolving issues, hence they are facing troubles in expediting projects.
In the meantime, Muneer Hadaf, chairman of the provincial civil societies’ network, expressed fear such a situation would result in mistrust between the people and the government. Criticizing the management of the CCP in the province, he stressed efforts should be expedited to implement the projects in a bid to promote confidence among the masses towards the government.
However, Tariq Mardaan, manager of the CCP in Takhar, clarified that the delay in execution of projects is caused by slow procurement process in the capital Kabul.
Promissing to swiftly resume development projects, he said 336 out of 847 community councils have been formed till re-election to get the work going. He added 20 out of 72 proposed development projects have been approved, and until the formation of regional community councils, more projects cannot be approved.
Eight relatively deprived districts of Takhar have been selected for the CCP development projects.
