Takhar money exchangers demand security

TALOQAN (SW): The money exchangers of Takhar provinces protested against increasing insecurity in Taloqan city on Saturday.

Camping outside the administrative building, the protesters complained that the provincial government is not able to provide security to the traders.

They warned that until the government provides security the ‘Money Exchange Market’ will remain closed.

Habibullah Haikalzada, a trade representative, said that the police have come short of providing security to traders. According to him, the Market will remain closed till the government provides security to the businessmen.

Zaher, a money exchanger, informed that the protesters are not only for the money exchangers, but all traders and businessmen have gathered protesting lack of security.

Sayed Jahangir Karamat, the security chief at the provincial police headquarters, assured that the police are trying best in providing security to everyone. According to him, those who try to unstable the provinces will be prosecuted.

These protesters also blamed the provincial representative at the Wolesi Jirga (lower house) for arming civilian and creating insecurity in the province.

This comes as, on Friday, unknown assailants kidnapped a 15-year-old boy, son of a money exchanger, in Taloqan city.
