NAGPUR (SW): Afghanistan on Saturday thrashed the International Cricket Council (ICC)’s Full Member Zimbabwe to reach the main round of ongoing T20 Cricket World Cup in Nagpur, India.
All-rounder Mohammad Nabi shined with hs career-best 52 runs to take his team to an impressive total of 186 runs. He was well supported by Samiullah Shinwari on the other end, who also scored a quick-fire 43 of 37 balls.
Afghanistan started off aggressively as the in-form opener Mohammad Shahzad scored 40, in under five overs.
In reply, Zimbabwean batting order totally collapsed against the Afghans on a seemingly spinning turf. Spinner Rashid Khan was the pick of the bowlers who bagged three for 11 runs only. Zimbabwe was all out in the 20th over with only 127 on the board. Afghanistan won the match by a clear margin of 59 runs.
