KABUL (SW) – The lawmakers from eastern parts of the country on Monday expressed grim concerns over swelling insecurity.
Addressing a presser, Esmatullah Shinwari, MP from Nangarahr, said ragging insecurity in the eastern provinces, if not curtailed, would also engulf the capital Kabul and many other provinces. He said insecurity in these provinces has swollen from far-away districts to urban centers.
Representatives in the Wolesi Jirga (lower house) from Laghman, Kunar and Nuristan provinces expressed similar concerns.
In the meantime, Hazrat Ali, another MP from Nangarhar, demanded a change in the security policy. He charged the government for being failed in curbing up to 20 terrorist groups in the eastern parts of the country.
Commenting on this, Mohammad Radmanesh, deputy spokesman for the Ministry of Defense, has clarified that the security forces are on the offensives across the country against the enemies. He urged the MPs to support the security forces.
This comes as up to 200 people are reported killed and many more wounded in recent multiple terrorist attacks in Nangarhar province alone
