SAR-E-PUL (SW) – A well-placed source has informed Salam Watandar three suspicions helicopters dropped supplies to the Taliban in the Kohistanat district of Sar-e-Pul district last week.
The source said security situation in the province is fast deteriorating, and the Taliban are aiming to wage assault on the provincial capital.
Meanwhile, Zabihullah Amani, spokesman for the provincial governor, has said investigations have been launched into such reports. He said such reports cannot be confirmed or rejected at the moment.
Last month, a number of local residents in Sari-e-Pul’s Kohistanat and in Balcharag district of Faryab claimed the foreign militants associated with Daesh lured a number of Taliban rebels in the area to fight for them.
There were also reports about two helicopters landing in Sar-e-Pul’s Sayad district for the alleged purpose of bringing supplies for the Taliban.
