GHAZNI CITY (SW): Security forces in Ghazni province have arrested a group of human traffickers that was allegedly trying to traffic 25 children to Pakistan for suicide attack training.
Ghulam Mustafa Mayar, provincial police chief, told a press conference here on Monday that the children were on their way to Pakistan in two vans. He added most of the children are orphans of security personnel who lost their lives fighting the militants. According to the police chief, the children were rounded-up from Andar, Waghaz and Deh Yak districts, and the traffickers wanted to move them to the Taliban’s training center in Queeta, Pakistan.
The children are aged between 7 and 15. Up to four suspected human traffickers have been arrested in this connection. The police chief said the children were brainwashed, and were unaware about what was going to happen to them.
Urging the locals to cooperate with the security forces, Ghulam Mustafa Mayar stressed it is vital to stop the militants from inflicting damage. Talking to journalists, a number of children said their parents allowed them to go to Pakistan for religious studies.
