KABUL (SW) – Up to 90 per cent respondents in a latest study have preferred a peace deal between the government and the Taliban over the proposed presidential polls.
Mujeb Khalwagar, chief executive officer at NAI – Supporting Open Media organization, told a presser in this connection that the study is based on views of some 5379 people in all 34 provinces. He said up to 90.2 per cent participants of the study said they would like to see a peace deal before the presidential elections while only around eight per cent said the polls must be held before the peace deal.
The rest of the responders opted for both, peace deal and the presidential polls, to take place together.
This study has been conducted just days ahead of a proposed meeting between the Taliban and the U.S. in Doha, Qatar. It is not clear if the Afghan government would be represented in these talks or not.
