KABUL (SW): A number of capital's residents complained of rising gas prices in the Kabul markets.
These customers criticizing the Ministry of Commerce and Industry said that they previously bought 1 kilogram of liquid gas from 40 to 50 afghanis, but over the past few weeks, the cost of 1 kg of liquid gas has increased to 65 afghanis.
The capital’s residents have urged the government to take proper measures against the surge of liquid gas prices in the country.
But, Tamim Walid, the director of petroleum and liquid gas enterprise, said the reason for the increase in the cost of gas and fuel in the markets of the country is the clean-up of liquefied gas storages in Turkmenistan. He assured that the problem is temporary and will be resolved soon. “Currently, there are plenty of gas in the oil and gas storage facilities in Kabul and other provinces of the country, imports have also not decreased, and each kilogram of gas is sold up to 43 afghanis at the enterprise’s outlets”, informed Walid.
The authorities of the Petroleum and Liquid Gas Enterprise assured that more than 50 gas stores will be opened in Kabul till winter comes so that the enterprise can provide gas at a reasonable price to the public.
