LASHKARGAH (SW) – At least one policeman got killed and eleven more got wounded following a suicide car bombing in Lashkargah, Helmand province, an official informed on Saturday.
Omar Zwak, spokesman for the provincial governor, said the security personnel stationed at the check post in the second police district area identified the attacker, and shot at him after which he blew the explosives loaded in the truck close to the check post.
He said six of the policemen have been moved to Lashkargah city for treatment while five others sustained minor injuries.
An eyewitness, Noor Mohammad, informed Salam Watandar exchange of fire was heard after the blast in the area.
There has been no immediate claim of responsibility.
