GARDEZ (SW) – A suicide car bombing in Gardez city on Thursday killed at least five civilians and wounded 15 others.
The Afghan National Army’s 203 – Thunder Corps said in a statement that five civilians got martyred and 15 others got wounded in this attack that also injured five soldiers.
Earlier, spokesman for the Interior Ministry Tariq Aryan said in a statement the attack took place near the military courts in Gardez city, the capital of Paktia province. "This attack is carried out by the Haqqani Network and Lashkar-e-Taiba. The attack is in connection with the string of attacks in Kabul's Dasht-e-Barchi and Nangarhar," he said.
The Taliban took responsibility for the attack. In a statement, the group dubbed it as response to the security forces adopting offensive posture against the insurgents in the country after string of terrorist attacks.
