MAIDAN CITY (SW) – A suicide car bombing in Maidan Wardak claimed the lives of at least 20 security forces, an official said on Monday.
Gen. Abdul Raziq Safi, commander of the fourth infantry brigade in Miadan Wardak, told Salam Watandar an armored vehicle packed with explosives was rammed into the NDS facility in Maidan Shahar at around 08:00 am. He said four more attackers, who wished to enter the compound with a car, were shot and killed by the security forces.
He confirmed 20 security forces got killed and 40 more got injured in this attack. Gen. Safi added further investigations into the attack have been launched.
The Taliban have claimed responsibility for the attack. Zabihullah Mujahed, the Taliban spokesman noted in a statement a number of attackers entered the compound after the suicide car bombing.
