KHOST CITY (SW) – A suicide attack inside the mosque of an Afghan National Army base in Khost has claimed the lives of at least 27 soldiers.
The incident took place in the Nader Shah Kot district during Friday prayers. Initially, the toll was announced to be 12 dead and 33 wounded. However, a well-placed security source that wished not to be named in the report told Salam Watandar 27 soldiers got killed and 79 others got wounded in this attack.
Prior to this, the directorate of public health had confirmed 44 wounded soldiers were brought to the government hospitals and 35 more were taken to private hospitals for treatment.
The provincial officials have said it is not clear yet how the attacker managed to enter the mosque inside the ANA base. There has been no immediate claim of responsibility.
