Suicide attack in Kabul leaves 20 dead and 29 more injured

KABUL (SW): Basir Mujahed, Spokesman for Kabul Police Department, told Salam Watandar that the suicide attack in Dehmazang area in the capital Kabul City, has left 20 dead and 29 more injured.

Ayub Salangi, Deputy Minister for Security at the Ministry of Interior, has said that the attack left 10 dead and 20 more injured.

The attack took place around 2:00 pm when the suicide bomber, who was on foot and wanted to make his way inside the Afghan Border Police (ABP) headquarters, was intercepted by security forces before he blew himself up. Eye witnesses said that the blast was very intense .

Taliban have claimed responsibility for the incident.

Zabiullah Mujahed, Taliban’s spokesman, said in a statement that the number of casualties reach up to 40 and all of the dead and injured are security personnel.

The Kabul Police however, has said that most of those killed or injured are civilians. Taliban have said that their suicide bomber had the ABP headquarter on his aim for a while before carrying out the attack on Monday.
