PUL-I-KHUMRI (SW): Strong winds and dust storms in a number of northern provinces have posed serious threats to the agriculture there.
Residents of Baghlan, Kunduz and Balkh provinces have told Salam Watandar that the strong winds have caused disruption of power supply, and has left devastating impacts on the crops of vegetables and fruits. A number of houses have also been reportedly damaged.
Mehrabuddin Ibrahim, a Baghlan resident and Ghulam Haidar, a local from Kunduz told Salam Watandar that the whirlwinds are so strong that it has forced the locals to shut their businesses. Speaking to Salam Wantandar, Mujibur Rahman, a local from Balkh province said that the winds have deprived the locals of electricity.
Similar reports have emerged from Takhar, Samangan, Faryab and Sheberghan provinces.
