
KABUL (SW) – President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani, head of the State-Builder electoral team on Sunday welcomed the preliminary results of the polls.
In a televised speech, Ghani said no one can rule Afghanistan through the barrel of gun. He said the State-Builder team would lodge its complaints in connection with the results at the complaint commission soon.
He urged the electoral commission to impartially and fairly address the complaints and declare the final results.
The Independent Election Commission has declared Mohammad Ashraf Ghani winner in the presidential polls with 50.64 per cent of the total votes.
Hava Alam Nuristani, chairperson of the IEC, told a press conference in this connection that the incumbent President Ghani won a total of 923968 votes. His closest rival Chief Executive Abdullah Abdullah won 39.52 of the total votes with 720990 votes followed by Gulbuddin Hekmatyar with 70242 votes.
The Stability and Partnership team led by Abdullah and Peace and Justice team led by Rehmatullah Nabil have dubbed the results as based on rigging
