TALUQAN (SW) – Thousands of supporters of Abdullah Abdullah, leader of Stability and Partnership electoral camp, staged protest demonstrations in Takhar and Faryab provinces.
As the rallies began, a number of roads and shops in the towns of Maimana and Taluqan were closed. Protesters in Faryab, marching through the streets of Maimana, chanted slogans "Abdullah is our President" and demanded the revocation of 300,000 alleged dubious votes.
Syed Muneer Masoumi, one of the protesters in Faryab, accused the State Builder electoral team by the incumbent President Ashraf Ghani, of ‘destroying democracy and defaming election commissions'.
Similar demonstration was staged in Taluqan, capital of Takhar province.
Faiz Mohammad Tohidi, a local member of the Stability and Partnership team, said they would not allow anyone to trade with their votes.
Protesters marched in front of the election commission offices in Faryab and Takhar. In a resolution issued at the end, they urged electoral commissions to abolish 300,000 alleged void votes.
We could not obtain the opinion of the electoral commissions in this regard.
