KHOST CITY (SW): Internal differences between two factions of the ‘Tableeghi Jamat’ (group of preachers) in Khost have led to local youth forcing both out of their center.
The Tableeghi Jamat has a main center in the Khost city’s Zeray Tarkha area, but recently the rising tension between two factions in it has led to dual prayer congregations instead of the usual one at a time. One group is believed to be loyal to the Pakistan-based Raiwand center while the other one has its loyalty to the Muslim cleric of India Maulana Saad Kandhalvi.
The Khost youth have now hoisted Afghanistan’s national flag over the center of the Tableeghi Jamat, and has announced to hand it back to the group of preachers if they overcome their differences.
Ehsanullah, one of the members of the Tableghi Jamat, said he and many other are supporting Khan Zaman, the local head of preachers following Maulana Saad Kandhalvi. “We consider the preachers of Pakistan’s Raiwand center responsible for the problem. We have told them time and again that we have our own country, flag and leaders, we do not need their suggestions and interference in out matters”.
Mawlawi Syedullah, a member of the opposite faction, however, said: “We perform prayers with the preachers of the Raiwand center because there are more people there. The preachers of Afghanistan pray in a different mosque, not with us”.
Salam Watandar wished to have the views of the directorate of Hajj and Religious Affairs, but they expressed unawareness about the matter.
