KABUL (SW) – A special tribunal on Monday commenced trial of Abdul Razad Wahidi, former minister at the Ministry of Telecommunication and Information Technology.
State attorney Abdul Maruf Zakir read the charge sheet in which the deposed minister has been blamed for violating the Constitution and other laws through misuse of authority during his term in the office. Wahidi has been charged for appointing a number of people at top posts as advisors in violation of the code of conduct for the cabinet ministers.
He has also been blamed for damaging public funds in the process of collecting the ten per cent tax on telecommunication.
Rejecting the charges, the former minister said he has been made victim of political and ethnic discrimination. His attorney levelled counter allegations against a number of officials.
The court proceedings have been adjourned till the next session.
