GHAZNI (SW) – The Special Forces have freed up to 40 people, civilian and security personnel, from the clutches of the Taliban in Ghazni province.
Arif Noori, spokesman for the governor, told Salam Watandar raids were conducted on the Taliban detention facilities in the Aab Band district of the province. He said 10 Taliban rebels were killed, 15 injured and five more captured by the security forces in this operation.
He added a number of vehicles were also confiscated by the security forces.
In the meantime, Jailani Farhad, spokesman for the governor of Herat, has said the Taliban have released 15 captive security forces.
The Taliban have also issued a statement saying 35 captive security forces have been freed. Issuing the name of all these soldiers, the Taliban noted all these prisoners have been ‘pardonened’.
