KABUL (SW) – The Special Forces of the Afghan National Army have freed up to 90 prisoners from a Taliban prison in Faryab province, an official statement announced on Thursday.
According to the office of provincial governor, these individuals have been freed from a detention center of the Taliban in Qaisar district.
Meanwhile, the ANA’s 209 – Zafar Corps said in a statement that the Special Forces freed 83 people from a Taliban cell in Faryab.
“As promised we are freeing our heroes. Once again our brave #Afghan commandos broke Taliban’s prison in #Faryab and rescued 51 civilians and military, 8 foreign citizens. 4 ISIS fighters & 20 Taliban in prison were arrested and 3 Taliban killed”, Assadullah Khalid, the minister of defense, said in a tweet.
Last month, the Special Forces freed 28 people from a similar illegal prison of the Taliban in Zabul province.
