KUNDUZ CITY (SW): The Special Forces have confiscated sensitive military maps and a number of sophisticated laptops during night raids on the militants’ hideouts in Kunduz province.
Jawed Saleem, spokesman for the Afghan National Army (ANA)’s Special Forces in the north has said that these items were recovered during raids in the province’s Dasht-e-Archi district. He added that 17 Taliban militants have also been taken into custody. Saleem noted that these militants were planing large scale attacks in the province.
The Special Forces have been busy conducting the clean-up operation here for almost three weeks now. In this operation so far, 81 militants are reported dead, 91 militants arrested and 6 hideouts along with 21 vehicles have been destroyed.
Security analyst Col. Zahir told Salam Watandar that these security maps are very sensitive documents carrying significant military importance. He claimed possession of these maps with the Taliban proves that some neighbouring country’s security forces are supporting the militants.
The ANA has made it clear that with the support of allied forces, night raids against the rebels would continue until complete elimination of the Taliban’s supply chain, resources and hideouts.
