SAR-E-PUL (SW): A provincial council member in Sar-e-Pul province has claimed a number of soldiers have deserted in protest against lack of reinforcement.
Mohammad Ali Hakimi, member of provincial council, said these soldiers were sent to the frontline in the province, and were promised that reinforcement will come, but instead of it the military helicopters were seen landing in the Taliban controlled area, it prompted the soldiers to desert in protest. Hakimi blamed the government for not ensuring peace and security.
Meanwhile, Zabiuallah Amini, provincial governor’s spokesman, has neither confirmed nor rejected the incident. He said local residents are fighting the Daesh and Taliban insurgents in the area. Officials believe the Daesh and Taliban insurgents have opened training camps in Sayad and Kohistanat districts of the province.
