LASHKARGAH (SW): At least six members of the ‘Helmand Sit-in’ who were on hunger strike for peace have been admitted to hospital for urgent treatment.
Iqbal Khyber, a member of this movement urging the Taliban to shun violence, informed Salam Watandar that the six participants of the hunger strike felt unconscious, and were rushed to the hospital. He added the strike, which has entered third day, would go on until their demand for peace is not met.
The organizer of this unprecedented movement said local officials in Helmand have promised to ceasefire, but they await similar move from the Taliban. Khyber informed residents of the restive Nawa district have also joined their peaceful movement for peace.
A local elder Mirwais Pasoon, has hailed this civic mobilization for peace in the society. He stressed citizens across the country should unite to push for peace and stability.
Following a brazen suicide car bombing outside the Ghazi Mohammad Ayub Khan stadium in the provincial capital Lashkargah last week, residents of the province launched the movement for peace in the country.
