Sit-in camp established in Maimana for peace

25/06/2018

MAIMANA (SW) – Residents of Maimana, capital of Faryab, have established sit-in camp against an upsurge in insecurity in the province.

A number of local elders, youth activists and political workers joined this camp aimed at highlighting the deteriorating state of law and order here. The angry protesters urged the government to swiftly ensure peace and re-open the main highway linking capital Maimana with other parts of the province.

The protesters also voiced concerns over drop in investment and delay in appointment of new governor.

This comes as the commander of the 209-Shaheen Corps has assured Faryab residents soon a military operation would be launched to bring peace and ensure security on the Maimana – Mazar-e-Sharif highway.
