KUNDUZ CITY (SW): Unknown armed men have gunned down Narmoon Singh, head of Sikh community in Kunduz province on Thursday.
According to the reports, all 30 Sikh and Hindu families left the province following the brief fall of the province to the Taliban earlier this year, but Narmoon Singh and two of his relatives stayed.
Mahfozullah Akbari, spokesperson for the police in the province, said that Narmoon Singh was shot while he was on his way to work early in the morning. “Investigation is underway to find the culprits”, added Akbari.
Singh used to live in a Sikh temple and had a shop where he used to sell herbal medicine. He had survived a similar attack on his life 4 years ago.
Bareed Singh, maternal uncle of the deceased, told Salam Watandar that the family will soon leave Afghanistan for good.
