‘Shpageeza’ action enters second stage

KABUL (SW): The ongoing ‘Shpageeza’ T20 Cricket Championship organized by the Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) has entered second stage.

At the end of group stage, the Band-e-Amir Dragons under the captaincy of Rashid Khan is on the top of the table followed by the Mes Aynak Knights under the captaincy of Mohammad Nabi. These top teams now have two chances to make it to the grand final while the Bost Defenders and Kabul Eagles are set to compete for the third slot.

In the last league match on Monday, the Band-e-Amir Dragons overpowered Kabul Eagles with five wickets. Karim Sadiq scored 32 quick runs and took three wickets for the Kabul Eagles. For the winners, Shahidullah Kamal scored a half-century and managed to take two wickets as well to grab the man of the match title.

Following a day’s break on Tuesday, qualifying matches for final would commence on Tuesday. In the first such match, Mes Aynak Knights and Band-e-Amir Dragons would fight it out. The winner would go straight into the final while the loser would face the winner of another qualifier between Kabul Eagles and Bost Defenders to be played on Thursday.

The final of this 5th Shpageeza would be played on Friday September 22 at the Alakozay International Cricket Stadium in Kabul.
