FARAH CITY (SW): Lamenting lack of resources for the security forces in Farah province, local officials have claimed the Taliban here are better equipped.
In conversation with Salam Watandar, governors of Bala Balook and Pusht Koh districts blamed the lack of support and shortage of arms and ammunition for the high rate of casualties of the security forces.
Concerns are rising in Farah over ragging insecurity.
Jamila Amini, member of the provincial council, and Qudratullah Farooqi, civil society activist, have expressed fears if the government failed to take urgent and effective steps, the Taliban would besiege the provincial capital Farah city.
In the meantime, Nasir Mehri, spokesman for the provincial governor, has also acknowledged shortage of resources for the security forces. He informed the provincial administration has asked for additional support for the security forces in the wake of growing activities of the Taliban in different districts.
He expressed optimism that soon additional troops and resources would be provided to the province.
Recently, up to 10 members of the commando force and eight policemen got killed in the Taliban attack in Bala Balook district a day earlier.
