KABUL (SW): Shaheen Asmayee, three-time winner of Afghan Premier League (APL) lost its first match to Tajikistan’s debutant Hosilot 0-1 in the opening match of the Asia Federation Cup (AFC CUP) 2017 at the Central Stadium in Dushanbe on Tuesday.
Asia's secondary club football tournament is organized by the Asian Football Confederation (AFC). Afghanistan is playing under the Central Asian Zone for the first time. According to AFC website, Tajikistan international Ibragim Rabimov scored the game's only goal in the first half to ensure the 2016 Tajik League runners-up advance to the second leg on February 7, also to be held at the Republican Central Stadium, with a slender advantage.
Shaheen Asmayee is not able to organize its home match due to insecurity in Afghanistan. They are the first Afghan side to qualify for this stage of the AFC Cup.
