LAHORE (SW): Pakistan’s largest Punjab province has been rocked by two sensational cases about series of rapes against minors.

A serial rapist (paedophile) confessed of his crime on Thursday (09 July) in the provincial capital Lahore. The man was blamed for rapping some 15 minor girls before being nabbed by the Crime Investigating Agency (CIA).

Police officials claimed that the DNA test have confirmed that the suspect named Haroon raped a minor girl who went missing last month. The culprit is said to have left his home in Sialkot district and was living and working in Lahore as a daily-wage laborer for months.

“He would habitually rape minor girls after luring them to deserted places”, Umar Virk, Superintended CIA was quoted saying by Pakistan's daily Dawn.

Separately, Punjab Police have arrested three men in connection with series of rapes and blackmailing. The police acted following threats by villagers in Punjab’s Kasure district to torch the homes of the accused men.

A group of some 15 suspects is said to have raped many minor boys and girls and made videos of them. They allegedly demanded cash and jewelry from victims’ families by threatening them to make the videos public.

“We will soon arrest the other accused and make things clear after thorough investigation’, Sahibzada Shahzad Sultan, Regional Police officer told journalists.
