KABUL (SW) – Senior journalist, writer and political analyst, Aashiqullah Yaqub, died on Tuesday of chronic heart illness at the age of 57.
Serving as head of Pashtu section at the Salam Watandar since 2009, Yaqub has to his credit a number of books and numerous articles besides overlooking the editorial sections of an array of publications in the country.
SW’s editor-in-chief, Shah Hussain Rasuli, dubbed the death of Aashiqullah Yaqub as a grim loss of the media community in Afghanistan. He remembered the veteran journalist as a humble human being and well-wishing adviser. Rasuli told a memorial ceremony at the SW that Yaqub would be dearly missed. Prayers were observed for his soul.
Presidential Adviser on Cultural Affairs, Shah Hussain Murtazavi, Kabul Press Club, NAI – Supporting Open Media in Afghanistan also sorrow over the death of Yaqub.
