BADGHES (SW): The provincial council chief of Badghes has dubbed the ongoing counter-terrorism operation as ‘ineffective’.
Abdul Aziz Baik, the PC chief, said the Afghan National Defense and Security Forces (ANDSF) backed by NATO forces are engaged in the counter-terrorism operation for the past 20 days, but no tangible goals have been achieved. He added the ‘ineffective’ operation by the security forces has resulted in the Taliban’s siege of Qala-e-Nau, Bala Murghab, Qades, Ab Kamari and Jond districts.
Badghes residents are equally concerned over the prevailing insecurity. The locals informed insecurity has resulted in many casualties among the security forces for which they blamed ‘weak leadership’ in the security sector.
Meanwhile, Juma Khan Adeel, commander of the 606-Anssar Zone, has discarded these allegations. He told Salam Watandar the counter-terrorism operation is going on successfully.
At least four security incidnets took place in Badghes in the past one week killing up to 17 security personnel.
