KABUL (SW): Heads of the security institutions on Sunday briefed the Masharano Jirga (upper house) about the law and order landscape of the country.
Gen. Abdullah Habibi, Minister for Defense, told the senators investigations into the brazen attack on the Sardar Mohammad Dawood Khan hospital are underway. He added the perpetrators of this attack would be hanged to death as per the directives of the President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani. The Minister said findings of this investigation would be shared with the public upon completion.
Taj Mohammad Jahed, Minister for Interior, told the house more terrorist attacks are expected in the coming days and months, but the Afghan National Security and Defense Forces (ANSDF) are up for the challenge. He said the Ministry of Interior assures the public that their security would be ensured.
Mohammad Masoum Stanikzai, Head of the National Directorate of Security (NDS), said on the occasion forces of this agency alone have conducted up to 317 counter-terrorism operations. He added up to one thousand Taliban militants have been arrested, and 74 terrorist attacks have been thwarted. He mentioned that a number of suspects have been taken into custody in connection with the attacks on the Sardar Mohammad Dawood Khan hospital and the Governor’s compound in Kandahar province.
