30/06/2018

SHEBERGHAN (SW) – As many as 120 security forces in Jawzjan province are under the siege of the pro-Daesh militants, an official informed on Saturday.

Toran Ismael, police chief for Darzaab district, told Salam Watandar the militants have cut supply lines to these security forces from the district center. He added security situation has deteriorated, the military and food supplies are finished. “Bodies of the security forces are lying there, and the wounded are in critical state, the morale of the security forces is down”.

In conversation with Salam Watandar, a number of soldiers expressed determination to fight against Daesh till last moment.

Mohammad Sadeq and Mohammad Jawed, two such soldiers, said repeated calls for help and fresh troops are falling on deaf ears, and the soldiers are guarding dead bodies under treacherous circumstances.

Acknowledging the security threats, Abdul Hafeez Khashi, director security affairs at the police headquarters, said the force present in the area cannot control the situation. He added there is a need for an additional force of at least 200 more soldiers here.

The locals fear if additional troops are not dispatched to the area soon, the district would fell to the pro-Daesh militants.
