LASHKARGAH (SW): The security forces have taken control of a number of areas from the Taliban in restive Helmand’s Naad Ali district.
Umar Zwak, spokesman for the provincial governor, told Salam Watandar that the security forces are now in control of Shen, Khushal, Hazaragan and Mata villages. He said six Taliban militants have been killed and two vehicles taken into custody in this operation.
The spokesman said the security forces have marched 15 kilometers ahead, and have taken control of the enemy’s supply line. Zwak said the police and army units have the backing of the U.S. Forces as well. He went on to say the militants’ poppy processing facilities have been destroyed in air raids.
This development comes at a time when many areas are still under the influence of the Taliban in Helmand.
