CHAR-E-KAR CITY (SW): Security officials claim that some security forces personnel commit heinous atrocities against civilians in Parwan province.
In a recent interview with SalamWatandar, Gen. Mohammad Zaman Mamozai, Parwan Police Chief, said that some security forces personnel and other irresponsible gunmen are accused of killing civilians in the province.
He said that killing civilians has been on the rise in this province and government security forces personnel who misuse other high ranking and influential officials in the province, are said to be behind these killings.
It is said that few months back, a police officer rowed with a few civilians in Kapisa province shooting dead 5 of the civilians and then escaped the scene.
Elsewhere, in two separate incidents, a police officer shot dead 3 civilians in the outskirts of Charikar City while another police officer who had come to Parwan from Ghazni killed 5 civilians in an attempt to seek revenge.
Gen.Mamozai believed that when the security forces personnel are on their leaves, their guns and any military belongings should be taken away from them until they return to their ranks.
Abdul Matin Qudosi, a member of Parwan Provincial Council and Head of Security Committee at the Council, said that irresponsible gunmen commit crimes before security forces’ very eyes.
It is said that these gunmen have wide presence in Zir Chawk, Sayyad and Sayed Kheyl areas who extort money from the residents.
Although Gen. Mamozai said that they have specific plans to dismantle these gunmen but residents don’t buy into it and said that such plans would have no impact on the improvement of security situation in Parwan.
These residents said that the gunmen have committed far atrocities against the civilians than the Taliban who are clearly the enemies of the country.
