Security forces’ mortar kills 13 members of 2 families in Faryab

MAIMANA (SW): A local source in Faryab, who does not want to be named, reports to Salam Watandar that as a result of clash between the security forces and the Taliban in the Dawlat Abad district of Faryab, a security forces’ mortar has hit a house in the village of Tort Atta, where 16 civilians, including women, and Children are killed and wounded.

Abdul Salam Nizhat, the chief of Dawlat Abad district, confirming the incident said that the Taliban launched their aggressive attacks on Friday on the security forces' outpost in Tort Atta village, a mortar hit resulted in the deaths of 9 civilians, including women and children, and 5 others were injured.

Ehsanullah Tofan, a Taliban commander in Dawlat Abad, claimed that the security forces targeted an area where there are no Taliban fighters. “As a result of the mortar hit 13 civilians are killed and 3 more are injured”, added Tofan.
