GHOR (SW) – Security forces stationed in seven western districts of Ghor are faced with shortages of food supplies for the past three months, local officials confirmed.
Among these districts include Shahrak, Tawlak, Teyura, Dolena, Pasaband, Chaharsada, and Saghar.
Criticizing the local as well as security officials, governor of Shahrak, Mohammad Kabiri and governor of Tawlak, Sulaiman Yosufi, said efforts to improve the situation have yield no results.
When contacted, district police chief for Teyura, Habibur Rehman Malakzada and governor of Dolena, Taher Afzali said the security forces have been facing shortages of food supplies for the past three months now. They said the security forces are compelled to acquire basic food items on loan from local shopkeepers.
The Ghor civil society has also expressed concerns over the prevailing situation in the province. According to the locals, the Taliban have placed deadly landmines on ways leading to these seven districts in the province.
Meanwhile, Abdul Hai Khatibi, spokesman for the provincial governor, has rejected these reports. He said impediments only exist in supplying food supplies to two restive districts of the province.
