KUNDUZ CITY(SW): Afghan security forces recaptured crucial areas in Kunduz in an operation carried out in cooperation with the NATO.
Upon reclaiming the new areas, security forces hoisted the national flag over public buildings.
Security forces took full control of Bandar-e-Imam Saheb, Se Darak, Chela Mazar, Bala Hesar, Khak Kani and Zakheyl areas, which were under the Taliban’s control for the past seven days.
Immediately there was no report about the casualties.
Gen. Qasim Jangal Bagh, Kunduz Police Chief, said that fresh supporting forces have reached Kunduz and the main city is fully under control of the security forces.
Security forces provided residents of the restive areas with food but some residents still complained about lack of food items in the areas where fighting is underway.
Amruddin Wali, Deputy Speaker for Kunduz Provincial Council, told Salam Watandar that fighting was still on inside the city. He added sufficient numbers of security forces have arrived in Kunduz.
He noted that the Taliban were committing atrocities against people.
Besides the Kunduz City, Taliban are also active in a number of districts in this province in particular Dasht-e-Archi and Chardara.
The fighting has also reached Takhar and Badakhshan provinces and the security forces are fighting the militants on different front lines in the said provinces.
Locals, on the other hand, are eagerly waiting to see an end to the fighting and hardship.
Afghanistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (ACCI) has provided the troubled countrymen in Kunduz with an aid of $ 300, 000.00.
Khan Jan Alkozay, ACCi Vice President said that a committee has been established to raise more funds for the displaced families who evacuated their houses due to fighting in Kunduz.
