Security forces enter Afghan –Turk school in Jawzjan

SHEBERGHAN (SW) – The security forces have entered the Afghan – Turk school in Sheberghan, Jawzjan province.

According to the school management, the security forces stormed the school without warrants, and took into custody four teachers on charges of allegedly collaborating with the failed military coup in Turkey. Mehmood Sidiqi, deputy director of the school, told Salam Watandar the security forces used water cannons and entered the school compound despite resistance from the parents of the students, and injured three people, including a pregnant woman.

However, Lutfullah Azizi, provincial governor, has clarified that the Kabul government has entered a deal with Ankara for handing over control of all Afghan – Turk schools in Afghanistan to Turkey. He added part of the deal is to hand over suspected coup plotters to Turkey and cancel the certificate issued by such teachers.

He added talks are underway with the parents of the students in this regard.

Abdul Hai Yasheen, head of the directorate of education, said a team was visiting the school to investigate, but the parents of the students posed resistance.
