The minister who visited the district on Thursday, told reporters that the contractor has been asked to complete the reconstruction of the bridge as soon as possible.
The bridge will connect Behsud district to Kama, Gushta, Dar-e-Noor and Kuzkuna districts. The residents in Nangarhar accused the government for lack of attention to the reconstruction of the second bridge in Behsud.
Dr. Mahir, head of the private reconstruction company responsible for the project, told Salam Watandar that as the Kabul River is currently overflowing, it makes the reconstruction work difficult.
Local government in Nangarhar gave the private company two months’ ultimatum but the company has still not completed the reconstruction work of the bridge.
Salim Kunduzi, Governor of Nangarhar, said that he has spoken with the heads of the company and said that the technical issues postponed the reconstruction work. The second bridge will be built over the Kabul River, which will cost afn 175 million.
