KABUL (SW): Mohammad Yousuf Nooristani, Chairman for the Independent Elections Commission (IEC), said that the schedule for parliamentary and districts councils would be announced on Monday.
Speaking at Wolesi Jirga (lower house), Nooristani said that IEC would announce the date for holding the forthcoming elections on Monday.
He said that in addition to setting the date for the elections, he would share other important points with the citizens.
He added that he has met with the leaders of Government of National Unity regarding the next elections and solving the challenges ahead of the elections twice but he has not received any comments on the elections from the two leaders yet.
Based on the Constitution, parliamentary and districts councils elections should have been held in the summer last year but it was postponed due to the indifferences between the leaders of Government of National Unity and lack of enough budget.
