SAR-E-PUL (SW) – The local armed militia members in Sar-e-Pul are forcefully extorting money from the locals.
A number of residents and local officials in the province informed Salam Watandar the members of local uprising force and armed militias are forcefully extorting money from the locals in Balkhab district.
Syed Asadullah Danish, member of the provincial assembly, said some members of the uprising force have even committed murders, but the government is not taking any actions against them. He said these men are taking negative advantage of the arms they possess.
Residents of Balkhab district informed they would shun ties with the government if it failed to take actions against the atrocities of these armed men.
Meanwhile, Zabihullah Amani, spokesman for the governor, said they have not received any formal complaints from the Balkhab residents in this regard. He said if proofs of the extortion are handed over to them, the government would take action.
Salam Watandar wished to have the views of the commander of the local uprising force in the area, but to no avail.
