PUL-I-KHUMRI (SW): Security officials in Baghlan told a press conference on Tuesday that there are Russian and Pakistani advisors to advice the Taliban insurgents in the province.

Ikram-u-Din Sarea, provincial police chief, has claimed that the Taliban insurgents led by Shams-u-Din are advised and trained by Chechen, Egyptian, Russian and Pakistani advisors in Dand-i-Ghori, Dand-i-Shahabudin and Dahan-i-Ghori districts of the province. “This has worried the Afghan security forces and the international coalition forces. The neighboring countries are trying to destabilize the country”, added Sarea.

Previously, veiled female advisors believed to be Russian were seen in the province who allegedly helped the Taliban in their insurgency. Taliban have established outposts in Boraki district and on Baghlan highway since one month.

According to the provincial security officials, in the recent military operations in Baghlan and Takhar provinces, at least 64 Taliban fighters are killed and 48 are injured while the Afghan security forces have sustained 7 casualties and 12 are injured.
